The Junction Groombridge offers a modern country pub experience, we are proudly independent and family run. We have lived in the Wityham parish for many years and wanted to create a warm and welcoming village pub for our beloved Groombridge (Groombridge We love you). With a menu that focuses on fresh produce (we even make our own chips) and modern twists that change seasonally and a friendly atmosphere we hope it won't be too long before we see you.
Falling on the edge of East Sussex within the parish of Withyham and bordering Kent during the COVID 19 pandemic lockdowns you may have even seen our proprietor featured on the news and the BBC hosting there local evening news from the pub!
We are in a prime position within the Groombridge Village opposite the Groombridge CC cricket ground perfect of a lazy afternoon (you will often have a sea of whites in our front garden after a match) and just a 5 minute walk from the beautiful Groombridge Place. Groombridge Place is a wonderful moated manor house offering fabulous days out for the family with its award wining gardens and enchanted forest. They often have activities for children including birds of prey demonstrations. You may also recognise the beautiful grounds from the 2005 film version of Pride & Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen as Groombridge Place was chosen to portray Longbourn.
The pub is also very close to the family trail Forest Way which runs from Groombridge through the Withyham parish into Hartfield then onto Forrest Row and East Grinstead. As a family we find it takes under 1 hour to reach Forest Row cycling on our bikes (9 Year old in tow) .
Cycling sounds too much like hard work? Not to worry the beautiful Spa Valley Railway is but a stones throw as you can expect from our name The Junction. Years ago our Sussex pub was actually called The Railway and during the building of the railway line the private function room was built to house the workers on bunks (originally called the bunk house). The trains are stunning and we must congratulate our friends at the Spa Valley who do an amazing job volunteering to work and keep these historic machines going. A fantastic day out with the kids and you can catch the train from Tunbridge Wells West Station with a route to the High Rocks, Groombridge Station then onto Eridge Station where you will find The Huntsman, Eridge another country pub. We are lucky to have wonderful pubs close by including The Crown Inn, Groombridge - The Huntsman, Eridge - The Hare, Langton Green, The Beacon, Tea Garden Lane & The Dorset Arms Pub in Withyham.
Recently we have seen a number of new patrons coming from Tunbridge Wells and Langton Green for a village pub experience which is super exciting. If you are traveling from Tunbridge Wells or Langton Green please use the A264 Langton Road and follow the route our of town past Rusthall, The Beacon will be on your left and keep going once you reach The Hare pub (you are not far now), you will see The Groombridge Farm shop on the righthand side and the road turns into the B2188 as you come down the hill passing The Crown Inn on your right and Groombridge Place on your left. As you approach the village roundabout bare left into the actual village onto Station Road and you will find us just past The Village Bakery Groombridge on the right.
Once here you can choose to be in our newly renovated bar or maybe make your way into the secret beer garden and outside gin bar or if the sun is shining and you have children the rear garden and swings is the perfect pit stop.
We can also cater for larger parties with a private function room (the bunk house) ideal for birthdays, private parties, small weddings and sadly wakes., The options include hog roast and we can also provide off site catering with our mobile gin bar too (available for bookings)
